The newly appointed Senators attended an Induction Workshop at the Happy Valley Hotel where they were given an overview of how Parliament operates as stipulated in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Eswatini under the mandate of Representation, Legislation and Oversight.
Welcome remarks by Senate President Senator Ps. Lindiwe Dlamini
In her remarks, the Senate President Senator Ps. Lindiwe Dlamini implored the Senators to execute their duties confidently and diligently knowing that they have been placed in the Senate for a purpose especially at such a time as this to serve the King and all Emaswati. She read a scripture from Proverbs 24 verse 21-22.
Some of the topics presented to the Senators included, inter alia: Parliament Practice and Procedures; Parliament Administration; Legislation Process and the Committee System.
Also present were the Senate Deputy President Senator Ndumiso Mdluli, Sessional Committee Members, Clerk to Parliament and some of the Parliamentary Service Staff.
